🎥 THE MIGRATIONS HUB RECOMMENDS 🎥
On May 4th, Pedro Figueiredo Neto and Ricardo Falcão's road movie, which won awards at Doclisboa and the Jihlava documentary festival in the Czech Republic, will arrive in Portuguese cinemas.
YOON portrays the circular and recurrent journey of Mbaye Sow, a Senegalese routier, in an old Peugeot 504. The two places he calls home, Portugal and Senegal, are separated by 4000km. In a risky and solitary journey to the South, revealing a complex network of relationships and gray areas, Mbaye Sow's path is full of (dis)encounters, obstacles and various constraints.
YOON reflects on the issue of borders as well as the the circulations of goods, ideas, and people between Europe and Africa. In the interstices of the peripheral urban areas of large cities, we find material obsolescence. However, through routiers like YOON's main character, we are confronted with the vicissitudes of material production and destruction that take place between us.
